Calcite raises low pH (acidic) water to a neutral range (7.0–8.0)
Calcite is a natural mineral composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) and is widely used in water filtration to adjust PH. It works by gradually dissolving in water to neutralize acidity, bringing the PH to a more balanced level. This helps minimize water corrosion, safeguarding pipes and fixtures from the harmful effects of low PH.
Beyond PH adjustment, calcite also reduces the risk of metals such as copper and lead leaching from plumbing into the water. Frequently employed in acid-neutralizing filters, it offers an affordable treatment option for mildly acidic water.
